Do I Need a Professional Carpet Cleaner?

Professional cleaners not only use high-quality, safe chemicals and equipment, they also have access to training and expertise that make them the best choice for cleaning your floors.

Training is extremely important for carpet cleaning because it can be a very delicate process. If you put too much water or shampoo into your carpet it can cause major problems. Too much shampoo can be difficult to get out and leave soapy residue which will actually build up soil at a much faster rate, causing your carpets to look dirty in no time. Too much water can damage the flooring and is also a great environment for bacteria and mold.

Professional cleaners are trained to avoid these problems and know how to treat each carpet, leaving your home clean and your environment healthy.

How Much Does Professional Carpet and Rug Cleaning Cost?

We are very focused on offering you the best cleaning results at an affordable price. We aim to please, so if you’re not completely satisfied with our cleaning, give us a call and we’ll send somebody back at no extra cost. Look at our Yelp reviews to see how happy our customers are with our services.

How Often Will I Need Carpet Cleaning?

We recommend you get your carpet cleaned every 6 months, especially if it is a high traffic area like an entranceway, family room, or hallway. If your carpet isn’t used very much and you vacuum regularly, you probably only need to clean it once a year. However, keep in mind that even if your carpet doesn’t look dirty, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a buildup of dust and allergens which can often be unseen.

Do I Have to Be Home When You Are Cleaning?

It’s probably best that you are there when our cleaning angels arrive, especially if there is a problem that you wish to point out. However we recognize that you’re busy and your schedule may not line up exactly. If that’s the case then please arrange instructions beforehand so our cleaning angels can pick up or drop off keys. We will also lock up afterwards and make sure your home is secure.

How Can I Keep My Carpets Cleaned Between Appointments?

You should vacuum regularly even if your carpet appears clean. Dust and allergens can accumulate easily and can cause health problems if you don’t vacuum. By vacuuming regularly, you can keep your carpet cleanest and make it easy and less expensive for professionals to do their job.

Will Carpet Cleaning Remove Every Stain in My Carpet?

No, unfortunately not always. Old, crusty stains can be difficult to remove. However, while professional carpet cleaning can either remove or decrease a stain, sometimes the material change is permanent. The good news is that even the worst stains can be cleaned to be made much less visible. If you have concerns about a specific stain, then give us a call.

How Do I Know Which Carpet Cleaning Method Is Best?

It is important to choose the proper cleaning method. A professional cleaner can help you make the right choice. You want to make sure that not only does your carpet get cleaned, it’s done safely with proper chemicals. The health of your family and your pets comes first!

There are 3 basic methods of cleaning your carpet or rug:

Hot Water Extraction (commonly referred to as Steam Cleaning)

This is the process of using heat to boil water into steam under low pressure. A hot vapor is then created that kills bacteria and dust mites while the steam attacks and lifts out stains. The vapor contains little water and dries quickly.

Dry Cleaning

This method uses a chemical compound or capsule that is applied to the carpet. There usually is a small amount of water used to activate the chemicals. This compound, composed of a dissolvent and an absorbent, attracts dirt and allergens, removing them from the carpet. The compound is then easily vacuumed away, leaning the carpet clean and free from health hazards. Many different compounds have been used over the years.

Wet Cleaning

Wet cleaning uses shampooing and water. This is the most common method and often the best. The purpose of the shampoo is to create a heavy, concentrated foam that attracts and traps soil for removal.

How Long Does Carpet Cleaning Take?

The time carpet cleaning takes varies on a great many factors. The average time per room is around 20-30 minutes but it can depend on the type and thickness of your carpet. Also if the carpet is heavily soiled or rarely cleaned it can take longer. Call us for an estimate.

Do You Provide Your Own Equipment?

Yes, we bring all our own tools, equipment, and cleaning supplies. All our supplies are eco-friendly and pet-friendly so you don’t need to worry about health dangers to you or your loved ones. We have the most advanced equipment and regularly update it as new technology comes onto the market. Most reputable companies will bring their own cleaning supplies. If they don’t it’s most likely a red flag.

How Long Does It Take for My Carpet to Dry?

It depends on what type of method you use to clean your carpet. Both hot water extraction and dry methods only take a couple of minutes to dry. However, the wet cleaning method usually takes between 3 to 6 hours, depending on what type of carpet you have. Thin carpets try faster while shag carpets take a little longer. Ventilation and air humidity will also effect how long it takes to dry.

It is important for the first few hours to stay off the carpet. After, you can tread lightly but be very careful not to bring any soil or outside dirt onto the carpet. One possibility is to avoid tracking in dirt is to use a pair of shoe coverings. If you want an extra pair, just mention it to us.

You’ll also want to use protective blocks under your furniture for 24 hours to prevent any possible discolouring.

How Should I Prepare for My Cleaning Appointment?

To assist in the cleaning, you can vacuum the carpet beforehand, although it’s not necessary. This will make the cleaner’s job easier and can possibly save on costs. If possible, remove all furniture and any fragile items that could be broken. You should also note any troubled spots or particularly tough dirt areas and tell the cleaners so they can prepare for it.

Do You Have Insurance?

Yes! All professional cleaning companies should carry liability insurance in the unlikely occurrence of property damage. This way, if something does go wrong, you’re covered and you won’t be out of pocket if something breaks or is ruined. The company’s insurance will reimburse you without any trouble. If you’re concerned, ask the cleaning company you hire if they have insurance and make sure you see a copy.

How Do I Remove a Fresh Stain?

As soon as a stain occurs you should use a cloth or white absorbent towel to gently blot it out. You can use any store-bought cleaner or even equal parts vinegar and water to break the soil down. Whatever product you use, it’s best if it’s eco-friendly. The quicker you can attack the stain the better chance you can remove it.

What if the Stain Has Already Dried?

If you’re trying to get rid of an old stain, use the same method as above with a store-bought cleaner or vinegar and water. Scrub vigorously until the soil is loosened, then use a towel or cloth to wipe the stain. If this doesn’t work, consider hiring a professional carpet cleaner.

How Can I Maintain My Carpet’s Warranty?

Read the warranty information that comes with your carpet or ask the salesperson who sold you the carpet. In most cases, the warranty will require professional cleaning every 12-18 months. Be sure to choose a method the manufacturer suggests or requires. Vacuum frequently with a properly working vacuum and blot up spills promptly.

I've Heard That Once a New Carpet Is Cleaned It Gets Dirty Quicker. Is That True?

Over the years, technology has improved and professional cleaners have adopted better cleaning standards that gets rid of all residues from the carpet. Residues can cause re-soiling, leading to dirt sticking easier to the carpet, which is why it's so important to hire a trained professional to treat your carpet properly.

Rare Rug Cleaning

What About Area Rugs? Can You Clean Them in the Home or Do You Take Them Off-Site?

After the pandemic of March 2020, we closed our in house team due to severe BC labour shortages. You can book an appointment to clean your rug on site, depending on technician availability.

I Have Allergies, Should I Remove My Carpets or Have Them Cleaned?

Allergies and dust can cause a health risk for any family, especially one with small children whose immune systems are more susceptible to foreign substances.

Carpets, if they are properly maintained, can actually act like a filter or trap for allergens, preventing them from being circulated in the air, where they can be easily vacuumed up. Hardwood or tile spread allergens quicker.

It’s when the carpets aren’t properly maintained that you can run into trouble. When the carpet is disturbed, the allergens are sent airborne where they can become a health risk. By having your carpets professionally cleaned you can prevent allergens from becoming a permanent fixture in your home.

Will Carpet Cleaning Get Rid of Fleas in My Carpet?

A good professional cleaning should get rid of the fleas, however sometimes the eggs are buried deep within the carpet strands. If a customer is concerned about fleas, we highly recommend you hire an exterminator to look at the pests first. Please keep in mind that carpets are not the only place fleas and other pests lay eggs so you might consider treating your upholstery as well as area rugs. An exterminator will give you a better idea of what needs to be done in order to get rid of these annoying pests.

If My Carpet Is Old Should I Even Bother to Have It Cleaned or Should I Replace It?

It’s costly to replace a carpet and can disrupt your life, sometimes for many weeks. It’s generally worth it to try professional carpet cleaning first. You might be surprised at how good your carpet will look! This can save you lots of money and disruption as well.

What Does Carpet Protector Do?

As carpets wears, the fibers get damaged or scratched. You won’t actually see the scratches but will notice the effect in the major traffic areas in your home such as main hallways, stairs, and living room. Carpets protectors help to fill the miniature scratches in the carpet fibers so the soil and dirt can’t attach itself. New carpet comes with these protectors on them from the mill but they wear off with time. It is best to have the protector re-applied every couple of years to help maintain the beauty of your new carpet.

Should I Apply a Carpet Protector After My Carpets Have Been Cleaned?

We recommend carpet protector on all carpeting to help repel soil, spills, and to extend your carpets lifespan, especially if your carpet is older. Carpet protection wears off with time so it’s important to apply every couple of years. A simple quick application is done immediately after cleaning and is groomed in with a carpet rake to distribute evenly. The cost of this service is a good value for the results it achieves.
